An Agamudayar marriage is a grand affair that goes on for days. The groom’s family goes to the bride’s home with a range of gifts, including clothes, jewelry, and other accessories. The bride is gifted with silk sarees, gold, and other invaluable gifts.

Before the actual wedding ceremony, there is an engagement ceremony known as Nichayathartham. The wedding ceremony itself goes on for several hours, and the bride and groom exchange garlands and take seven vows while holding hands. The groom ties the mangalsutra or thali around the bride’s neck, marking the end of the wedding ceremony.

Religious Practices

The Agamudayar caste follows Hinduism, and religious practices play a significant role in their daily lives. They have several temples and worship Lord Murugan, Lord Vinayagar, Lord Shiva, and Goddess Sakthi. They also perform the traditional poojas or religious ceremonies, which help them maintain a spiritual connection with the divine power.

Festivals and Celebrations
